Our tutoring services are based around your child’s individual needs. Education is not a one-size fits all process, and that’s why from the start of our relationship we work with you and your child to develop a programme that will work for them.

We offer our services throughout the week, with varying lengths to meet the needs of your child. The questions below will hopefully offer all you need to know, but if not we would also welcome the opportunity to speak with you on the phone or meet up to develop your child’s plan.

Where do your tutoring sessions take place?

Our sessions take place throughout the week in Marple Bridge in Stockport, Cheshire – meaning it is perfect for children based here and in the surrounding areas of Marple, Romiley, High Lane, Disley or wider Stockport.

How much do the sessions cost?

Our sessions are extremely competitively priced, and we offer our 121 tutoring with our fully qualified teaching staff at a rate of £35 per hour or £30 for 45 minutes.  This is extremely competitively priced when ranked against other providers in the Stockport and Cheshire area. We also offer discounts for block bookings, with payment options that allow you to pay monthly or weekly to best suit your finances.

However, we are hugely passionate about making education accessible and that’s why we also offer our small group sessions. These sessions take place throughout the week and cater for a maximum four children per time. The cost per session is £15 making for a much more accessible route to tutoring.

How long are the sessions?

Between 45 minutes and one hour – with you and your child determining the best lesson length for you.

I’m worried this will add to their already busy schedule of school commitments.

Do not worry. We do not overwhelm our children, instead we take their lead while using our skills to nurture their confidence. And we will remain in contact with you throughout so that we can adjust your child’s sessions accordingly.

How are the sessions structured?

Our sessions are broken down into distinct parts, resulting in practical, fun activity-based learning. We understand that some children will benefit from pen to paper activities, but we try our best to ensure these are engaging and beneficial, making the most of the time your child will spend with us.

How will I know their Super Starlings sessions are in line with their school learning?

We will speak with you at your child’s assessment to understand the work they are doing in school. We can also help with school homework activities or follow up lessons at school on request to consolidate their learning. Although Maths and English are a huge focus that provides the foundation for the entire curriculum, we are very happy to support your child with any other learning that will help to develop their confidence. We often make cross curricular links throughout our lessons, whether this be through Art, History, Science or Geography tasks.

What do I need to bring? Do I need to buy anything?

You don’t need to provide anything for our tutoring sessions! Super Starlings provides all the required colourful and friendly resources; books, stationary, maths equipment, whiteboards and pens – and there will be opportunities in some activities where your child will be able to make use of our tutoring and educational resources with you at home.

How will you know what level my child is at?

We will complete an initial assessment with your child during their induction lesson, whether this be maths, reading or writing, it will be catered to your child’s age and ability. This will help to inform us of the support your child needs.

How can I track my child’s learning progress?

Each child is given their own Super Starlings S.O.A.R! Rewards chart. Click here for details of our bespoke programme.

Will my child be safe?

We operate to the highest standards. Both Orla and Jade are DBS checked and we have insurance in place within our risk assessed premises. We also have a safeguarding policy which is sent to our parents in their welcome pack. For added peace of mind, we can also conduct our sessions in the comfort of your own home if that helps your child feel more secure – especially in the early days of getting to know us.
